How is the Digital SAT different from the traditional paper test?

The Digital SAT (DSAT) is shorter, lasting about 2 hours and 14 minutes. It features a “multistage-adaptive” format, meaning the difficulty of the second module depends on how a student performs in the first. At Sunshine STEM Academy, we train students specifically on this adaptive logic and how to use the built-in Desmos graphing calculator effectively.

Is a two-week intensive program enough time to improve scores?

Yes. Our program is designed for high-impact mastery. By condensing the material, we keep the concepts fresh and the momentum high. We focus on “score-multiplier” topics—the specific math and grammar rules that appear most frequently—ensuring students get the highest return on their study time.

Should my child take the SAT or the ACT?

While both are accepted by all U.S. colleges, the choice depends on the student’s pace. The Digital SAT gives students more time per question and is often preferred by those who like steady reasoning. The ACT is faster-paced and includes a Science section. We provide diagnostic insights to help families in Alpharetta and Buckhead decide which test aligns better with their student’s natural strengths.

How do you personalize the plan for each student?

Every student begins with a diagnostic assessment. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all curriculum. Our instructors use session data to identify if a student needs help with “Advanced Math” or “Craft and Structure” in Reading. This data-driven approach ensures we are closing specific knowledge gaps rather than reviewing what they already know.

Does Sunshine STEM Academy provide real practice exams?

Absolutely. We believe you should “train how you fight.” Our practice sessions use digital platforms that mirror the College Board’s Bluebook™ app environment. This helps students build “digital stamina” and get comfortable with the on-screen tools, timers, and marking features they will face on test day.

What is the best time to start preparing?

Ideally, students should start 3–4 months before their target test date. Many of our students use our intensive program as a “launchpad” in the summer or before a spring exam to sharpen their skills when it matters most.

Sunshine STEAM Academy has been more than just an education provider for our family, it’s a guiding, informative partner that continually keeps us updated on our children’s progress and provides thoughtful ideas on how we can support them. Mrs. Duzyol and Mr. Duzyol are both highly experienced mentors who genuinely care about every student’s development. Our oldest daughter’s academic progress benefited greatly from their guidance after attending the summer camp with Mrs. Duzyol as an 8th grader, her SAT score rose from 950 to 1200. She also improved by roughly 150 points in Math and English, with overall gains around 200–300 points, and Math and English showed especially strong gains. In addition, the one on one sessions have been incredibly beneficial for her with Mrs. Duzyol. She teaches in a very clear way, she makes the hardest topics feel easy for students. She knows many subjects beyond her main field and is always ready to help. Our younger daughter, who started with encouragement but needed motivation, has grown into a student who loves learning and has made academic progress. Her individual sessions, along with the FLL activities led by Mr. Duzyol, have shown outstanding results, and she has participated in competitions. Group projects benefit from encouragement, creative thinking, and speaking opportunities in group presentations, all facilitated by Mr. Duzyol.
