Why STEM?
“In the 21st century, scientific and technological innovations have become increasingly important as we face the benefits and challenges of both globalization and a knowledge-based economy. To succeed in this new information-based and highly technological society, students need to develop their capabilities in STEM to levels much beyond what was considered acceptable in the past.” (National Science Foundation)
Sunshine STEM Academy Programs
STEM Courses
Sunshine STEM Academy offers after school and weekend STEM enrichment classes in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Reading, and Art subjects in a small class size setting in Alpharetta, Georgia.
Academic Coaching & Math Tutoring
Sunshine STEM Academy provides coaching for college application starting from elementary and middle school ages to empower, inspire, and motivate students to explore, choose, and act on their life’s path.
Students are offered variety of activities year-long to motivate students in the road to college. Our dedicated team of educators make a huge difference in students’ lives, show them a way forward, enjoy a satisfying experience.
Math Olympiad Coaching
Math Olympiad is a team for students who love math and want an exciting challenge. Through weekly practice and guided instruction, students strengthen core problem-solving strategies, learn to explain their thinking clearly, and build confidence tackling non-routine, competition-style questions. Our lessons include logic puzzles, number theory, algebraic reasoning, geometry, and multi-step word problems, with plenty of time for collaboration and discussion. As students progress, the team prepares to participate in scholastic math competitions such as MathCounts and other local and regional contests.
Led by an award-winning Math Olympiad coach, students receive expert guidance and encouragement as they grow their skills and confidence.
Robotics
Students design, build, and program robots using LEGO SPIKE Prime and EV3 Mindstorms kits while learning core engineering and coding concepts. In small, non-competitive teams, they iterate through hands-on challenges that strengthen computational thinking, collaboration, and communication.
- Build + mechanics: motors, gears, sensors, and sturdy construction techniques
- Coding + logic: sequences, loops, conditionals, debugging, and clear code structure
- Sensors + data: using color, touch, gyro, and ultrasonic sensors to make decisions
- Problem-solving: planning, testing, refining, and documenting improvements
- Supportive culture: coached teamwork in a collaborative, non-competitive environment
