Sunshine STEM Academy values the importance of whole-student development. We offer academic teams to build social and emotional skills, in addition to furthering classroom academic skills. Our academic teams include:

Math Olympiad

Math team is provided for students who love math and challenge! In Math Olympiad we will improve our problem-solving math skills. Math Olympiad will also compete with other scholastic math competitions such as MathCounts.

Robotics

Sunshine STEM Academy FLL Robotics Teams, will be composed of up to 6 students in each team. In FLL, the children do the work; like program an autonomous robot (using the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3 robot set) to score points on a thematic playing surface, create innovative solutions to a problem, all while being guided by the FLL Core Values. These three elements – the Robot Game, Project, and FLL Core Values – make up what we call our yearly Challenge. Teams also fundraise, create a team identity, and talk to experts in the field.

FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) is an international inquiry-based program for children ages 9-14 that grows their interest in science and technology through an exciting, team-based, competitive event that includes a research assignment, a robot game, and life skills projects. FLL participants get to:

  • Design, build, test, and program robots using LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology.
  • Apply real-world math and science concepts.
  • Research challenges facing today’s scientists.
  • Learn critical-thinking, team-building, and presentation skills.
  • Participate in tournaments and celebrations.

What FLL teams accomplish is nothing short of amazing. It’s fun. It’s exciting. And the skills they learn will last a lifetime.

Tech Fair

Tech Fair is a competitive team that meets twice a week, every Friday and Saturday.  We participate in three competitions during the year; School wide, Private Schools and Georgia State Level competitions.
