Sunshine Robotics Program

Sunshine STEM Academy forms non-competitive robotics teams of up to 6 students each. The program follows a specially crafted robotics programming curriculum developed by Sunshine STEM Academy. In this 10-month course, students program an autonomous robot using both LEGO physical and virtual robots to complete missions on a thematic playing surface and create innovative solutions to problems. Kids also learn pair programming and team-building skills while programming their robots.

Sunshine STEM Academy provides college application coaching for students from elementary through middle school. We empower, inspire, and motivate them to explore their interests and chart their life's path. We offer year-round activities to guide students on their journey to college. Sunshine STEM Academy serves families in Buckhead, Alpharetta and Cumming, Georgia with high-quality STEM education and academic enrichment for gifted and high-achieving students. Student-Centered, Hands-On, Rigorous, Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving, High Expectations

Sunshine STEM Academy offers student-centered, hands-on, rigorous extracurricular enrichment, including academic teams (robotics and coding), workshops, camps, and academic coaching.

Academic enrichment activities include:

Robotics: Students program and code robots using VEX VR Robot, LEGO SPIKE Prime and EV3 Mindstorms kits in a collaborative, non-competitive environment.
Coding (All Levels): Beginner-level coding and problem-solving with Scratch, Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Java
Digital Arts: Photography, video production, graphic design, and web design.
Academic Coaching: One-on-one coaching that helps students create personalized learning plans, develop effective study skills, set ambitious goals, and track progress through regular evaluation and assessment.

PERSONALIZED LEARNING

We believe that students can engage in different ways and in different places. Our students benefit from individually-paced, targeted learning tasks that start from where the student is, formatively assess existing skills and knowledge, and address the student’s needs and interests.

COMPETENCY-BASED LEARNING

Sunshine STEAM Academy has been more than just an education provider for our family, it’s a guiding, informative partner that continually keeps us updated on our children’s progress and provides thoughtful ideas on how we can support them. Mrs. Duzyol and Mr. Duzyol are both highly experienced mentors who genuinely care about every student’s development. Our oldest daughter’s academic progress benefited greatly from their guidance after attending the summer camp with Mrs. Duzyol as an 8th grader, her SAT score rose from 950 to 1200. She also improved by roughly 150 points in Math and English, with overall gains around 200–300 points, and Math and English showed especially strong gains. In addition, the one on one sessions have been incredibly beneficial for her with Mrs. Duzyol. She teaches in a very clear way, she makes the hardest topics feel easy for students. She knows many subjects beyond her main field and is always ready to help. Our younger daughter, who started with encouragement but needed motivation, has grown into a student who loves learning and has made academic progress. Her individual sessions, along with the FLL activities led by Mr. Duzyol, have shown outstanding results, and she has participated in competitions. Group projects benefit from encouragement, creative thinking, and speaking opportunities in group presentations, all facilitated by Mr. Duzyol. The environment is inspiring, supportive, and genuinely joyful learning is exciting, and the outcomes are exceptional.
